We’re thrilled to announce that Aziz Ansari has confirmed his biggest UK show to date. Fresh off the back of a successful US tour which ends on May 31st, he’ll be walking the same planks as some of the world biggest comedians. Catch him at London’s famous Hammersmith Apollo, a Mecca for comedy lovers. It’ll be the first time he’s appeared in the UK since his five side-splitting gigs at London’s Soho Theatre over two years ago.

The Boxer Rebellion took to their London rehearsal space and transformed it into a recording studio where the songs for Promises would eventually come together over the last 18 months. Moving away from the more analog and darker soundscapes that enveloped the band’s previous album, Promises is a significant step in a different direction for the London four-piece – a hi-fi, soaring piece of work that truly delivers on the band’s epic, signature sound, and individual skill as musicians. From the retro-glossiness of the album’s opener, “Diamonds,” to the wall-of-sound that is “Fragile,” to the towering beauty of “Low,” “New York,” and “Dream,” Promises presents itself as an evolution in aesthetic – diverse in soundscapes but singular in grand ambition – for a band that continues to push and explore its creative ability with each new release.

As a first glance into the new album, the band today officially released their music video for new single “Diamonds.” Shot by British directorial duo Justin and James Lockey (aka Hand.Held.Cine.Club), the film stars lead singer Nathan Nicholson suffering a dead-end job and finding momentary escapism by way of a sudden free-fall flight through the air. Shot in the North of England, the team built an office space inside an empty shell of a building, worked with free-base skydivers in sub-zero temperatures, and plunged into ice cold waters to capture a stark and emotive film fitting to the song’s message. Check out the music video for ‘Diamonds’.

‘Altered State’ was produced, mixed, mastered and engineered by TESSERACT guitarist, Acle Kahney, assisted by bassist, Amos Williams at Acle’s 4D Sounds studio, and marks the first full release with new vocalist, Ashe O’Hara.

The band will be heading out on a run of 5 UK headline dates in May, prior to the release of the new album on May 27.

We know that you have been waiting with baited breath for another announcement from the Wakestock camp and here it is! Glaswegian rockers TWIN ATLANTIC are one of the latest additions to the line-up. With brash and ballsy hits like “Free” and “Make a Beast Of Myself” these guys know how to raise the roof at any festival. In the summer of 2012 the band supported Blink-182 and The All American Rejects and have a busy summer ahead of them this year, including a visit to North Wales to take to the stage at Wakestock!

Genre splicing producer and DJ JAKWOBwill be bringing his full live show to Wakestock this summer. Having remixed everyone from Busta Rhymes to Usher, Jessie J to Lana Del Rey, and his remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Starry eyed” he has had over 17 million views on youtube alone. Now releasing his own material, “Fade”, his biggest single to date was released in March and he has been championed by Annie Mac, Mistajam, Zane Lowe and beyond. Check him out this year.

Nottingham based DOG IS DEAD are a five-piece who describe their music as being harmonious, indie-pop in the disco, with a cheeky jazz hint. Their debut album, “All Our Favourite Stories”, received a flurry of glowing reviews upon its release and the songs chart the band’s rise, from a group that formed to perform at a school talent show, to indie’s latest big pop hope. They have been championed by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and a definitely are a band to watch.

London’s newest band THE HOWLING are showcasing punk rock to a new generation. Mixing punk riffs with beats, samples and gut wrenching bass lines these guys will be popular with the Wakestock crowd. Every London show the boys have played to date has sold out. They make light work of bringing a full throttle energetic performance to every stage they grace. You may recognise drummer Jack Wayne who has competed a number of times at Wakestock as a pro wakeboarder, before retiring to concentrate on the band full time. You’d best believe the hype surrounding these guys and see for yourself.

Wakestock are also stoked to announce the return of this year’s Battle of the Bands competition. With so much up and coming talent across Wales we want to give the hottest new Welsh band a chance to play Wakestock 2013. The competition winner will be chosen by Radio Cymru’s Lisa Gwilym, and the winning band will open the East Stage for Twin Atlantic on Sunday 14^th July. Lisa is a champion of new music in Wales and told us -

“Supporting new Welsh music is something I’m very proud to do on my show on C2 BBC Radio Cymru, and on S4C through “Stiwdio Gefn” and “Pethe”, so I’m very excited to once again be judging the Wakestock Battle Of The Bands. The godfather of grime and hip hop pioneerWILEY will join the fun at Wakestock this year. Since finding solo success in 2008 with “Wearing My Rolex”, Wiley had his first solo No 1 in August last year with “Heatwave” and latest single “Reload” entered the charts in the top ten. His new album, The Ascent, was released on 1 April we can’t wait to hear loads of new material in his Wakestock set.

London born rapper K KOKE has been causing a stir in the underground scene with his flurry of mixtapes, freestyles and videos. Hailing from London’s notoriously tough Stonebridge Estate, Koke’s “Fire In The Booth” freestyle for Charlie Sloth’s BBC 1Xtra show has alone had over 1.2 million views, while his debut solo mixtape and his current single “Lay Down Your Weapons” featuring Rita Ora has been a huge success. K Koke looks set for big things in 2013.

Moustachioed superstar in waiting KING CHARLES will also be taking to the stage. He released his first album last year and toured with Mumford & Sons and Noah & the Whale amongst others. His music comes straight from the heart and this guy has got charm, charisma and a musical aura about him that means he will go far. Prince meets Hendrix meets the new folk scene.

With the surging popularity of British rock continuing in 2013, one of the first bands to hit the ground running was Cambridge five piece MALLORY KNOX. Their debut album “Signals” hit the charts in January of this year. Their latest single “Beggars” is already receiving huge support from Radio 1. LUCY SPRAGGAN captivated the country with her first X Factor appearance with her honest, warm heartfelt songs. She quit the show half way through but had already cemented her status as a supremely talented and credible songwriter. Lucy Spraggan’s X Factor audition in front of Gary Barlow, Tulisa, Louis and Guest Judge Mel B has been viewed on YouTube by over 17 million people. Since leaving the show, Lucy has gone from strength to strength, signing to Columbia and she sold out most of the 19 dates on her forthcoming national tour in a matter of hours.

Prepare to be blown away by New York duo MSMR. The duo will re-release ‘Hurricane’ as the latest single to be lifted from their upcoming debut album “Secondhand Rapture”. The band’s last single “Fantasy” was playlisted on BBC Radio 1, while their track “Bones” was used in the season three trailer for HBO’s Game of Thrones. MS MR’s debut album “Secondhand Rapture” will be released on May 13 and will no doubt be riding high in the charts.

Don’t miss WILLY MOON when he takes to the stage this year. A master of dabbling with the past and twisting it into the future and with an ear for melding early rock sounds, synthy production and hip-hop beats. His single “Yeah Yeah,” which borrowed a Wu-Tang Clan sample, has already made the charts and featured in Apples iPod ad and his latest single “My Girl” has been all over the airwaves. His album “Here’s Willy Moon” was released this week you will be hearing a lot more from this man over the coming months.

RUSS CHIMES is one of the hottest emerging young producers, remixers and DJs to emerge in the past 12 months. Despite being a relative newcomer, Russ has already racked up an arsenal of huge remixes for established artists like Mark Ronson, Booka Shade, Kelis and Marina & The Diamonds, including an enormous remix for Ellie Goulding, which gained worldwide radio play and to date has acquired 1.7 million views on YouTube. His latest single “Turn me out” is receiving huge support from Radio 1’s Annie Mac and is set to be one of this summer’s anthems.

Ram Records’ LOADSTAR are a duo who have surpassed the highest expectations in recent years by fusing their individual styles and creating a pioneering sound that imbues club dance floors, iPods and huge festival arenas with incredible energy. Fans of drum & bass can be assured that Loadstar have everything it takes to be one of the most exciting acts in dance music today.

Pop starlet TICH has built up an army of facebook fans, youtube subscribers and twitter followers. Signed to Universal Records, her new single, “Dumb” is due out next month and with stars from across the pop spectrum complimenting her online cover versions and James Arthur joining the queue of artists who want to work with her, we’re sure Tich will make it big this year.

VANS WARPED TOUR can reveal the first seven confirmed acts for the 2013 UK event, which takes place 16th and 17th November at London’s ALEXANDRA PALACE.

RISE AGAINST are the first headliner to be revealed on Monster Energy Main Stage, bringing their arsenal of politically charged melodic hardcore to a London indoor arena for the first time in two years.

Since 1999, Tim McIlrath and co have been spreading their progresive message with stunning songs and electric live shows, rising up through the underground to enjoy the kind of mainstream success very few punk rock acts can genuinely lay claim to, including a TOP 40 album with 2011’s “Endgame”. Says Tim:

“As a band that used to open the lowliest of Warped side stages in sun-drenched parking lots across the states, we’re elated to be headlining Warped Tour UK as it spreads its wings across the pond.”

With their championing of righteous causes, punk ethos and anthems such as “Saviour”, “Help Is On The Way”, “Make It Stop”, and “Prayer of the Refugee”, RISE AGAINST perfectly capture the spirit of WARPED TOUR, and their headline slot this year is a match made in hardcore heaven.

No strangers to VANS WARPED TOUR, having performed in the US in 2006 and returning for this year’s American run, fans are in for a treat as they bring the room filling sounds of the likes of “The Ex”, “Red Flag”, “Devil On My Shoulder” and “Viking Death March” to a 10,000 strong Ally Pally.

VANS WARPED TOUR is not just about big names and platinum sellers, and prides itself on being the first to bring you the hottest new talent, and this year is no exception. Australia’s CAPTURE THE CROWN come up from down under armed with viscious metallic hardcore laced with hooks so massive their debut video has ratcheted up over 6 million views in little over a year.

“We’ve all dreamt of playing Warped Tour for basically our whole lives and now we get the chance?” enthuses guitarist Jye Menzies. “It’s fucking mind blowing to say the least! Last year, CROSSFAITH laid waste to the Kevin Says stage, ramming the room and leaving hundreds of fans unable to catch the phenominal set due to capacity restrictions. This year, VANS WARPED rectify the problem by sticking the Japanese Electro metalcore masters on theMonster Energy Main Stage, to ensure thatCROSSFAITH can throw down a much bigger dance metal party in the main hall.

ITCH is no stranger to the punk world, having graced magazine covers, sold out tour posters and radio airwaves while fronting THE KING BLUES. Over four albums and seven years, ITCH’s political spirit was spat out to many, many thousands, refreshed by someone with something to say. With TKB disbanded,ITCH shows no sign of slowing down, and continues to spread his message as a solo artist, with his new work mixing punk, pop, reggae, folk, dubstep and dance and a lyrical finesse that is both flourishing and fearless.

“The first time the Warped Tour came to UK I was there at the front the whole time.” He says. “To be playing Warped UK is an honour. I’m mad excited its gonna go off!”

Currently tearing it up across the US with Senses Fail and Such Gold, REAL FRIENDS Make their UK debut, bringing their suburban Chicago pop-punk to the line up.

“Real Friends is beyond excited to come over to the UK with Warped Tour.” Says bassist Kyle Fassell. “This is one of those moments when you just sit back and really appreciate the opportunities that are thrown your way. Can’t wait to hit the UK for the first time, and definitely not the last.”

YELLOWCARD leave the Florida sunshine to bring their violin-laced pop-punk to North London. Frontman Ryan Key states:

“We have been a part of the Warped Tour family for over a decade now. We are so honored to help bring the Tour overseas!”

Having refined the art of good time party music since 1997, the Floridian five piece will bring the spirit of a red-cups-and-beer-bong college keg party that is bound to break out in spontaneous bouncing and hearty singalongs as they bust out faves like “Only Me” and “Ocean Avenue”

With four stages and two days, this is just a taste of things to come, with over 45 bands – including futher headliners – still to be announced. As usual, the running order is to be decided on the day, and this year you may even see some surprise appearances from a select few bands who decide one show at WARPED is not enough and join for both days.

Keeping with tradition, a breathtaking extreme sports display will appear alongside the musical banquet, as well as dozens of stalls in a bigger merch market, which offers not only items from all the bands playing but also the chance to meet some of them at spontanious signing sessions.

May 13th also sees the release of the next MS MR single, ‘Hurricane’ which follows up their last release, the Radio 1 playlisted ‘Fantasy’. ‘Hurricane’ contains a delicious combination of huge hooks and dark lyrics (“Welcome to the inner workings of my mind/So dark and foul I can’t disguise,”) and, after being made available via the bands Tumblr last year, was named ‘Best New Music’ by Pitchfork, ‘Hottest Record’ by Zane Lowe, ‘Potential Superstars’ by The Guardian and reaching No1 on Hype Machine.

The first DIY video for ‘Hurricane’ has now had over 1,200,000 views on You Tube and a brand new video for the track will be premiered shortly. Meanwhile another track from the album, ‘Bones’ has been used on the trailer for the new series of ‘Game of Thrones’ which has been seen by 20 million people…

All this means it is the Best Excuse ever to put a Game Of Thrones video on the website i know of.
