Africa Express have announced that John Paul Jones, Carl Barât, Hatim Bensalha (H-Kayne), Afel Bocoum, Toumani Diabate, Nicolas Jaar, Krar Collective, Kyla La Grange, M1 (Dead Prez), M.anifest, Spoek Mathambo, John McClure (Reverend and the Makers), Nneka, The Temper Trap, The Very Best (Soundsystem) will be joining ‘The Africa Express’, which departs London on 2nd September.
Africa Express – the collective of African and Western musicians – will board ‘The Africa Express’ and travel through England, Scotland and Wales for a unique musical journey featuring scheduled concerts in Middlesbrough, Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol and London as well as pop-up performances at railway stations, schools, factories, offices, shopping centres and homes.
These recently announced names will join musical legends, emerging new artists, vocalists, DJs and producers from Africa and the West including Amadou & Mariam, Damon Albarn, Baloji, Charli XCX, Fatoumata Diawara, Jupiter & Okwess International, Kano, Bassekou Kouyate, Baaba Maal, Noisettes, Jack Steadman (Bombay Bicycle Club), Rokia Traoré and Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs).
‘The Africa Express’, produced in association with the Barbican as part of London 2012 Festival, will culminate in a finale concert in London’s Granary Square at King’s Cross on Saturday 8th September. For confirmed venue line-ups, please visit www.africaexpress.co.uk
